The Buck 110 came out in 1963, and it solved a real problem for hunters: a strong locking blade that didn’t mean strapping a long fixed-blade knife to your belt. Six decades on, it’s still handcrafted in the USA, and the shape has barely changed. That consistency is much of the appeal.
The lockback is the heart of it. You open the 3-3/4” 420HC stainless clip blade with a nail notch, and it locks firmly in place until you release it. Buck heat treats the steel for edge retention and corrosion resistance, so it’s a sensible choice for field dressing, camp chores, or fishing. The ebony and brass handle gives it the look people recognize across a room, and it comes with a leather sheath with a snap fastener and belt loop.
The weight is the part to think about. It’s 7.2 oz and 4-7/8” closed, which is a lot to carry in a pants pocket all day. The sheath is the intended way to wear it, and on a belt it makes more sense than in a jeans pocket as an everyday knife. Hunters will use it as designed, collectors will want the classic wood-and-brass version, and dads who want a “real” knife that outlasts a few trends will find the lifetime Forever Warranty a reassuring extra.
