Hand-Tufted Koi Fish Rug

The wavy outline is the detail that makes this koi rug worth a second look. A straight border would box in the fish motif; the irregular edge gives it a looser, more pond-like presence. I’d put it in a bedroom or nursery where the rug can be the main visual detail, rather than compete with several other patterns.

There’s texture behind the shape, too. It’s hand-tufted using New Zealand wool and wool blends, with a plush pile carved into high and low sections. That relief gives you something to notice up close, not just a fish design to read from the doorway. It suits a room where sitting on the floor is part of the routine, and the rug gets appreciated at that distance.

The listed 4-by-6-foot version deserves enough open floor to show its uneven outline. Tucking most of it under furniture would lose some of the appeal. Multiple sizes, custom dimensions, and custom colors are available, so there’s room to adjust the design without rearranging an entire bedroom around it.
