Homegroove Cat Exercise Wheel

Yes, it’s a hamster wheel for cats, and at about 45 inches tall it’s big enough for a grown cat to run inside. Homegroove builds it from solid fir wood on a widened base that wraps around the wheel so it stays put, and it’s rated to hold 110 pounds, which leaves plenty of margin for a multi-cat household.

The details show some thought. Eight TPE rollers keep the spin quiet enough that a cat running at night shouldn’t wake anyone, and a built-in lock stops the wheel when nobody’s home. The gap between the wheel and the base is narrowed so paws don’t get pinched getting on and off, the corners are rounded, and the thick carpeted running track comes off for cleaning.

It suits a high-energy indoor cat and an owner who would love to watch it sprint in place instead of tearing across the couch at 3 a.m. The carpeted track doubles as a scratching surface, which helps justify the floor space.

The catch: it’s big. The footprint is roughly 43 by 14 inches and it stands 45 inches tall, so measure before you buy. You’ll be assembling it yourself, and an electric screwdriver speeds that up a lot. Whether a cat actually runs on it is up to the cat, so treats and a wand toy are a smart part of the gift.
