Transforming LED Face Mask

Wave your hand and your face changes. That is the hook of this full-face LED mask, and it is a fun one. A motion sensor sits on the mask itself, so you can flip through its effects without touching a phone, which helps when your hands are busy. If you do reach for the phone, the app gives you 45 animations and 70 still images, plus the option to upload your own photos or scroll your own text across the face.

The music mode is where it gets theatrical. Turn on the mic in the app or play a track through it, and the volume EQ moves across the mask in step with the sound. The silicone pads around the eyes sit softly, the mask is not very thick, and the strap adjusts, so you can breathe and see normally while you move. Brightness is adjustable, so it works in a dim room and still looks sharp in daylight.

This is aimed at people who want a costume that does something: a Halloween party, a rave, a festival stage, or a costume contest where a face that morphs gets the crowd turning around. When you want the full range at a party or on stage, most of the programming lives in the phone app, so you will be spending time with your phone, and the hand-wave control only covers part of what it can do.
