Somebody looked at a normal word search and decided it needed 204 columns and 250 rows. That’s 51,000 letters, with more than 5,500 words and word phrases to hunt down. The familiar little time-killer has been given the scope of an administrative project, and I can respect that particular kind of excess.
I’d give this to the person who finishes a word search and immediately reaches for another. The appeal is having one enormous grid to keep coming back to, rather than another collection of quick finishes. Finding one word barely dents the total, so the reward has to be the search itself. For someone who enjoys slowly picking order out of a wall of letters, those numbers are a selling point.
What I like is how little explanation the novelty needs: take a recognizable puzzle and keep adding letters until the scale becomes the joke. But if crossing off the last word is your favorite part, more than 5,500 targets could turn a relaxing habit into unfinished business.
