Tail Devil Skateboard Spark Plate

Flint is doing the showy work here. Drag your skateboard’s tail against the pavement and the Tail Devil throws sparks at the contact point, with the effect especially noticeable at night. The plastic plate also takes the scraping that would otherwise wear down the wood, so there’s a practical purpose behind the spectacle: it doubles as a tail guard.

It attaches to the nose or tail of a wooden skateboard, cruiser, or longboard using the included 3M mounting tape. Peel, stick, and press firmly. For aggressive riding, the manufacturer recommends reinforcement with the two included Phillips head screws, which means putting holes in your deck.

The tapered shape lets you fit multiple plates side by side, though the package contains just one. That’s an unusually specific design decision for an accessory whose main attraction is making sparks. For riders who already drag their tails, a single plate adds a visible bit of theater while giving the wood a break.
