A Year of Dates: Movie Edition

Picking the film can take longer than watching it. Here, the decision arrives in one of 50 sealed coloured envelopes, each holding a movie title for your next night on the sofa. Opening an envelope gives the weekly ritual a small reveal, rather than another round of “What do you fancy?”

I’d give this to a couple who already like movie nights but keep returning to the same familiar films. The selection spans comedy, thriller, action and horror, so the appeal is letting someone else choose, not building a box around your own taste. Two blank cards and envelopes leave room to add favourites of your own, a thoughtful little escape hatch when you want to slip a reliable crowd-pleaser into the mix.

The gift box gives a recurring evening at home something tangible to unwrap, which makes sense as an anniversary present without committing anyone to a night out. The catch is that these are adult picks, including some rated 18; if horror is a hard no for either of you, the surprise could turn into a veto.
