Fellow Carter Move Travel Mug

The rim of the Fellow Carter Move tapers to a thin lip, and Fellow says the shape was inspired by Cabernet wine glasses. The idea is to put the coffee right where you taste it, which is a long way from sipping through the slot in a chunky travel lid.

Inside, the stainless steel walls have a ceramic coating, so coffee tastes like coffee instead of the inside of a thermos, without metallic notes or lingering oils and odors from yesterday. Double-wall insulation keeps drinks hot for up to 12 hours or cold for up to 24. A quick twist locks the lid tight enough to toss the mug in a bag, and a removable splash guard keeps the coffee from sloshing on a bumpy ride when the lid is off. The 16-ounce body is slim enough for most car cup holders, it goes in the dishwasher, and it also takes Fellow’s Carter Slide and Carry lids if the owner wants a different top later.

It suits the commuter who cares how their coffee tastes and has given up on travel mugs that make everything taste faintly of steel. It also works on a desk as an everyday mug that won’t go cold.

The catch: the lid comes off to drink, with only the splash guard in place, so it’s not a sip-through lid for one-handed driving. And most car cup holders still isn’t all of them.
