Morakniv Companion Fixed Blade Knife (Orange)

The Morakniv Companion is one of the Swedish maker’s most popular knives, and it’s a favorite with campers, bushcrafters and hunters for a plain reason: it works and it’s cheap. You get a 4-inch stainless clip-point blade, a rubber-grip handle and a polymer sheath with a belt clip. It weighs 2.9 ounces, 4 with the sheath, and it’s made in Sweden.

The Scandi grind is why people love it for camp chores. The single wide bevel runs straight to the edge, which bites well when you carve a tent stake or shave kindling, and it’s easy to sharpen on a flat stone. The orange handle is a quiet bonus, since it’s easy to spot when you set the knife down in the leaves.

Give it to the scout, the new camper, or the friend who keeps borrowing your knife at the campsite.

The catch is that it’s a working tool with plain looks, and the plastic sheath is practical rather than handsome. At this price, nobody expects otherwise, and it’s cheap enough to keep one in the car and another in the tackle box.
