Denix Excalibur Letter Opener With Scabbard

Opening the mail with a sword is the kind of small daily drama that improves an office. This Denix letter opener is a miniature Excalibur, made of metal and almost 11 inches long, and it slides into a detailed scabbard of its own when it isn’t dispatching envelopes.

Denix is known for display replicas, and this one keeps the shape and detail of a full-size sword, scaled down to desk size. At 92 grams, it has enough weight to feel like a real object rather than a novelty pen, and the scabbard means it can sit on a shelf or a desk looking like a tiny piece of armory.

It’s a fun gift for a fantasy reader, a King Arthur fan, a tabletop game master or the coworker whose desk already has a dragon on it.

The catch: it’s a letter opener, so the edge is meant for paper and nothing tougher, and at nearly 11 inches it takes up more room than a standard one. Think of it as desk decor that happens to be useful once a day.
