ELEGOO UNO R3 Super Starter Kit

The first lesson makes an LED blink. A few lessons later, the same little board is reading distance with an ultrasonic sensor, turning a servo, spinning a stepper motor and writing text on an LCD screen. The ELEGOO UNO R3 Super Starter Kit walks through more than 22 guided projects using an Arduino-compatible UNO R3 board and the Arduino IDE software.

The box is full: the UNO R3 controller, an LCD1602 screen with its header already soldered on, a breadboard power module, ultrasonic and DHT11 sensors, a joystick, an IR receiver with a remote, an SG90 servo, a stepper motor, a relay, a DC motor with a fan blade, displays, LEDs, buttons, resistors and jumper wires. Everything plugs into a solderless breadboard, so no soldering iron is needed.

The lessons cover real programming ideas like digital input and output, analog sensing, timing and motor control. Once the examples work, the fun part is changing the code to build alarms, reaction games or a small environment monitor. It suits a teen who already likes coding, or who keeps asking how gadgets work, and wants something physical to show for it.

The catch: it needs a computer to write and upload code, and the tutorial is a download. ELEGOO also suggests younger learners work with an experienced adult, so a total beginner may want a helper for the first few lessons.
