This Golden Gate Bridge starts as two and a half flat sheets of etched steel and ends up as a red suspension bridge more than 14 inches long. There’s no glue and no soldering: you snip the parts off the sheets, then bend and twist small tabs through matching holes until the bridge stands on its own.
The finished model measures 14.45 by 0.94 by 2.95 inches at 1:7535 scale, a long, low piece that sits nicely along the front of a bookshelf or across the top of a monitor. Metal Earth rates this Premium Series version at a moderate difficulty, a step up from its one-sheet kits, and the etching picks up the kind of fine detail that makes a bridge look like a bridge rather than a toy.
It suits the civil engineer, the bridge fan who slows down every time they cross one, and anyone who likes a calm, fiddly project with an illustrated set of instructions. It’s aimed at ages 14 and up.
The catch: those tabs are small, and Metal Earth recommends tweezers for bending and twisting them, so add a pair if the recipient doesn’t already own some. It’s a project that rewards patience over speed.
