William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return

Return of the Jedi, but make it Shakespeare. William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return retells the Star Wars story in the Bard’s style, turning a familiar space adventure into a literary mashup. Anyone whose affection for Star Wars shares shelf space with Shakespeare is the wonderfully specific reader this book is made for. Knowing the story is part of the fun, since the draw is seeing how differently it can be told.

We like this as a gift for that crossover reader, rather than a blanket recommendation for anyone with a lightsaber collection. The Shakespearean approach is the whole reason to choose it, so someone who has no patience for that style probably won’t be won over by the Jedi connection alone. For the reader who does enjoy both, it’s a pleasing excuse to revisit Return of the Jedi through a very different voice.
