Star Wars Monopoly: Saga Edition

Buying up Hoth and Endor feels like a suspiciously reasonable way to spend an evening. Star Wars Monopoly: Saga Edition swaps familiar property names for locations from the six-film saga, puts ships in the railroad spaces, and replaces Chance and Community Chest with Jedi vs Sith cards. The galactic makeover still leaves Go, Free Parking and Jail right where Monopoly players expect them.

The character tokens give the table something to argue about before the property negotiations even start. Darth Vader, Yoda, Princess Leia and General Grievous are among the eight choices, though Han Solo and R2-D2 sit this one out. It supports 2 to 8 players, ages 8 and up, so there’s room for a fairly crowded council.

This suits the Star Wars fan who actually enjoys Monopoly’s dealmaking and long-haul grudges. The theme gives those familiar turns some personality, but it doesn’t turn Monopoly into a quick game. Come for the planets; stay because someone refuses to sell you the last one you need.
